NetSci 2017 will offer at least 25 graduate students full conference fee waivers (worth about $250) and at least 10 student travel awards ($300). These will be awarded on a competitive basis. More awards may be made available contingent upon sponsorship support.
Applications will be accepted between March 1 (after abstract decisions are issued) and March 15. Applications will include a CV and a one-page maximum personal statement about involvement of the student in the Schools, Satellites, or Conference and how network science is relevant to the student's training and research. Decisions will be issued as quickly as possible to allow for planning. The online form for award submission will be linked from this website.
Awards to applicants for travel subsidies will be disbursed at the conference in person upon checking in at the registration booth.
In addition to awards made before the conference, there will also be poster session awards given to students who submit their own work in the amount of $1,000, $500, and $200. These awards will be judged during the conference itself and announced before the Erdös–Rényi award session on Thursday afternoon. This award will be to a student poster presenter who is the first or sole author of a work, and will be judged by a committee at the conference. No special application for this award will be required.
For those seeking lower cost accommodations, there will also be dorm-style rooms at the adjacent campus of IUPUI in University Tower. The Tower is slightly less than a mile walk to the hotel through the university campus. Our group rate will be approximately $41-45 per night. More details will be available on the site, and reservation for these rooms will also open on March 1 with conference registration.
